LAKKI MARWAT, Dec 29: Unidentified persons shot dead a police constable in Abakhel village in Lakki Marwat district on Saturday.

“The incident occurred in the limits of Lakki Marwat police station,” said an official. He added that Khursheed Khan, a Frontier Reserve Police constable, had come to his village on leave where unidentified persons shot him dead. The deceased received a bullet in his head that proved fatal for him, he said.

The official said that the family of the deceased constable had no enmity with anyone.

A large number of villagers reached City Hospital where the body of the constable was brought for autopsy. Police registered a case against unidentified persons and started investigation.

Meanwhile, a proclaimed offender was arrested during a raid in Shamoni Khattak area on Saturday.

After being tipped off about the presence of a proclaimed offender Abdul Qayyum, a police party of Dadiwala police station raided his house and arrested him, said an official. He said that the law enforcers also seized a Kalashnikov and 12 rounds from him.

“The arrested man was wanted by police in a murder case,” the official, adding that a separate case for possessing illegal weapon was also registered against him.
