The author has tried to highlight multiple issues: the quality of drugs manufactured in Pakistan, the benefits of prescription medicines and the misuse of OTC (over the counter) drugs. Benefits and misuse of drugs cannot justify the lack of quality control measures for the locally manufactured medicines. Every medicine has some side effects and they are only prescribed to patients when their benefits outweigh risks. There is no possible way that the doctors can ensure the quality of these drugs and so there has to be a consistent quality control check on the manufacturers.

A point well said by the author. Noone is denying the huge benefits of medicines in saving lives, the point is to have a good regulatory system to promote safe effective use of medicines.

A look at the broader picture shows that medicine – as conventionally practiced – has failed to meet effectively many of the challenges of modern health care and instead of being part of a solution has become part of the problem

u do not agree with the above statement

medicine gas made the life of billions of people a lot easier, many of the illness that plagued mankind are under control bec of convetional medicine

u are talking of around 400000 death bec of med, it a miniscule percentage, and most of these are bec of adultared med by crimnal or bec of med abuse
