SRINAGAR, Dec 31: Shops and businesses remained shut in Indian-held Kashmir on Monday in response to a strike called by pro-independence parties in protest against firing by Indian forces in which seven people were injured. On Friday, Indian troops fired on people in Pulwama town as they carried two men injured in fighting with armed men in a neighboring village. Seven civilians were wounded in the shooting, leading to massive anti-India protests.—AP
