To prevent the unhealthy distortions and manoeuvring, it is advisable that the the elections of the national and provincial assemblies be held at the same date.

It is worrying to see ECP announce that a uniform date for holding elections for national and provincial assemblies is impossible. I think ECP must do whatever it can to ensure elections for all assemblies are held on the same date. This will save money, time and energy of the state and the people of Pakistan. This might also contribute to increased number of voters coming out and casting their votes in one go instead of coming twice to polling stations.
