PESHAWAR, Jan 1: A meeting of the Road Transport Board (RTB) on Tuesday approved installation of water filtration plant, walk through gates, electronic boards and deployment of fifteen more security guards to improve functioning of the Peshawar bus terminal. The meeting also approved a tube-well operator, plumber and other necessary staff for the terminal.

The meeting was chaired by Minister for Information and Public Relations and Transport Mian Iftikhar Hussain.

The meeting also discussed the implementation of the decisions taken in the last meeting, and the extension of the lease period of 10 kanal land of the bus terminal.

The meeting unanimously approved the expenditures of the board with effect from April 2012 to November 2012.

The meeting also approved the creation of a post of a full time administrator to run the affairs of the bus terminal initially for a period of six months. It decided to award the contract of the terminal through open auction for the remaining period of the year. It also decided to hire a private consultant to initiate civil work in the bus terminal.

Addressing the meeting, the minister said the provincial government had taken revolutionary steps to provide better transport facilities to the people. He directed the concerned authorities to take necessary measures to improve the security and cleanliness of Peshawar bus terminal.—APP
