ISLAMABAD, Jan 2: Former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has moved a petition before the Supreme Court seeking a review of its June 19, 2012, order disqualifying him from holding a seat in parliament for committing contempt of court.

Instead of filing through his counsel, the former premier himself sent the petition by post, a court source confided to Dawn.

He said the court’s department concerned had still not made up its mind how to treat the petition.

A decision whether to return the petition on the grounds that normal procedure had not been followed or fix it before a bench for hearing would be taken on Thursday, the source said.

The contentions raised in the petition are not known.
