LAHORE, Jan 3: Two PPP legislators have urged the PML-N to stop Tehrik-i-Minhajul Quran chief Dr Tahirul Qadri from holding a long march on Islamabad scheduled for Jan 14.

“We ask the PML-N not to give free hand to Qadri and stop his long march. Under the Charter of Democracy, the PML-N should help the federal government in this regard,” said PPP MPA Faiza Malik.

Though both parties have criticised Qadri for “following ‘someone else agenda”, arch rivals PPP and PML-N have yet to formulate a joint strategy to tackle the march.

She said the PPP government had faced conspiracies in the past and it would not let the conspirators succeed in future as well.

MPA Shaukat Basra said the PML-N should not let Qadri succeed in his designs. He said PML-N President Nawaz Sharif should openly speak against Qadri’s long march call which appeared to derail democratic set-up in the country.
