This is good bill to generate money. It not moral but pragmatic to allow people to pay taxes and excuse them. Without forgiveness not single rupee will be collected. To expect everybody to pay due taxes is reasonable but is impossible also. This is better compromise

If a person has been evading taxes in the past but is now repentant and wants to pay taxes in the future then he should be allowed to do so. The Pakistan Government should give opportunity to defaulting people to declare their wealth and join the tax-net after paying a suitable penalty for the unpaid taxes. This law should be framed as a permanent feature and not just one-time issue. Such laws already exist in many countries.

Yes, it is indeed a big question as to why, after all why the outgoing govt is hell bent on getting this bill passed. What does it gain in return. Why it did not do any thing to bring the evaders to the tax net ? Why no tax on agriculture income ? The easy answer to all these questions is that the govt wanted to complete full term at any cost and without bothering about interest of the country and its masses. In the process it could not displease the rich and waderas etc so that they side with the govt
