LAHORE, Jan 5: Saturday was the coldest day so far of this winter in the city and many other places across the country as persistent fog and wind from snow-capped hills further dropped temperatures.

Lahore’s minimum temperature dropped to just one degree Celsius and the maximum was nine degrees. On Friday, the minimum temperature was three degrees Celsius and the maximum 10 degrees Celsius.

People wore warm clothes as the day was almost as cold as the night because of a thick blanket of fog that has been blocking sunlight for   the last many days. Low gas pressure and increased loadshedding added to the miseries of the people making them unable to keep their houses warm or cook food.

The situation in other cities too was the same as thick fog continued to blanket ceaselessly.

Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, Khanpur, Toba Tek Singh, Okara, Sahiwal, Mandi Bahauddin, Jhang, Faisalabad and even Sukkur in Sindh remained engulfed with thick fog

Travelling on the national highway and the motorway was also risky as it was on the roads in cities due to poor visibility.

The minimum temperature in Skardu was -13 degrees Celsius, Astore -12, Quetta and Kalam -11, Parachinar and Hunza -10, Kalat -9, Gupis and Gilgit -8 and Dalbandin, Dir and Malamjaba -6.
