LAHORE, Jan 7: The Lahore High Court on Monday disposed of a petition for recovery of a missing Canadian national Sikh woman, Rajvindar Kaur Gill, with a direction to police to hold investigation on merit.

Earlier, a CIA DSP appeared before the court and stated that laptop of Ms Gill had been recovered from the custody of one of the arrested accused involved in the alleged murder of the lady.

He said the family of Ms Gill identified the laptop which had been sent to laboratory for data recovery.

The officer further informed the court that Interpol had been contacted for the arrest of prime suspect Shahid Ghazanfar, who had escaped to Germany after killing the Sikh lady.

He said following the court’s directions Sarwar Road police registered an FIR under kidnapping charges on the complaint of Sikandar Singh Gill, father of the alleged murdered woman.

Petitioner’s counsel Advocate Aftab Bajwa told the court that bank accounts of Ms Gill in Switzerland and Canada should be frozen.

At this the court asked the DSP to approach the banks concerned in this regard and also gather details about the accounts.

The petitioner stated that her daughter (Ms Gill) had arrived in Lahore on Aug 25, 2012 to attend a diamond exhibition. Since then her whereabouts were not known to the family, he said.

On previous hearing, the Lahore CCPO had told the court that Ms Gill had been murdered and one of the arrested accused Hafiz Shahzad also confessed to his crime. He stated that the killers had thrown the body of the Sikh lady in Khanpur Canal on Sheikhupura Road.

Meanwhile, a judicial magistrate of Cantonment Courts remanded Hafiz Shahzad in CIA police custody for five days.
