For centuries before the glaciers, in all parts of the world where they exist, began to recede India suffered catastrophic reductions of its civilisation, of its art treasures, of its centres of learning, of its cultural monuments, and lots more of cognate achievements. Whatever happens in Siachen, India should not make any move to satisfy Pakistan’s ironical concern for the ecology.
