ISLAMABAD, Jan 11: Having failed to complete its task within the given time, the parliamentary commission on new provinces has decided to seek more time from the National Assembly speaker to finalise its recommendations on the issue of carving out one or more new federating units in Punjab.“The 30-day period has ended today. The NA speaker will be requested under the rules to extend the period to allow the commission to complete its task,” said Senator Farhatullah Babar, chairman of the Parliamentary Commission on New Provinces in Punjab, on Thursday
Talking to reporters after a meeting of the commission here, he said the commission’s members had decided to hold its meetings on a daily basis from Jan 16 so that they could finalise their recommendations for onward presentation to the National Assembly as early as possible.
