NEW DELHI: Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh warned Tuesday that there “cannot be business as usual” with Pakistan after last week’s deadly flare-up along the border in disputed Kashmir.
“It cannot be business as usual” with Pakistan, he told reporters on the sidelines of an army function.
“What has happened is unacceptable,” he added in reference to the killing of two Indian soldiers, one of whom was beheaded.
“Those responsible for this crime will have to be brought to book.”
Singh’s comments came a day after commanders of the two armies traded protests over the border exchanges and the chief of India’s million-plus military ordered an “aggressive” response to any fresh cross-border firing.
The Indian government has accused Pakistani soldiers of crossing into Indian territory and killing two of its soldiers on Jan 8.
Pakistan denies its troops were involved in any such incident and has accused Indian troops of killing two of its soldiers.
Foreign ministers of both sides have warned against escalating tensions.
But the Indian army chief of staff told his commanders Monday to respond “aggressively” to any future Pakistani firing across the de facto border in Kashmir known as the Line of Control.
Where are pakistans chiefs of armed forces to comment on this indian threat

i think it is not done! they should have kept the road to peace moving.. congress is just so fearful coz of coming elections next year that they wont make any policy to trouble there image. It is not a good step on responsible country like India. As an Indian, I think we should shown to pakistanis that we are open to scopes even after your brutality on LOC. Really, it is a matter of shock that we could not mature so far in spite of the period of more than 65 years after independence, to ascertain what benefits our people may get further if the both countries again entangle in war for the disputes which could not be solved in spite of numberless discussions. The history has shown the failure of the “Two Religions-Two Nations” doctrine. At the time of partition, some greedy leaders were there to create the disturbance. Today, their next generations are willing to do so. Big powers need business and they make us scapegoats once we may internationalize our bilateral issues. Today, both countries have no comparison in terms of their resources and demands. Why do they waste the valued assets on creating such scenes? It is known fact that if financial and other exchanges are stopped by India, Pakistan would be big looser. If the head of one soldier gives some winning feelings to the person who committed this brutality, it must be kept in mind that many heads in turn may have to be returned in due course of time. Both countries may think over the matter again and take corrective action immediately before it is too late. Instead of war, they must resolve for reunification again like Germany did. If some of the leaders do not agree, the people of both countries can march ahead to break down the barriers. Let the deserted families meet their loved ones again.

Mr Javed, I feel that the army in Pakistan is not in the control of the government, as it is in other parts of the world. Your army is always against the relationship with India, because that is the surviving point for the army. I may believe that your government is not at all included in the incidence and this whole thing is just executed by some lower ranks officer of the army because the diplomatic and visa talks were on with India.

It is very unfortunate to hear all this at such a critical times.In the war no one is winner.The people of both countries dont want war.In Pakistan,the Army has a deep rooted interest to perpetuate hostality towards India.In Indian Political set-up, some political groups have a interest to see that both countries are at war.The people of both counties have very warm feelings towards each other.Recently,I have been to Karachi and Lahore,I am witnesse to lot of good will and love in Pakistani majaority towards Indian people.
Both governments should allow the people to people contact, Let people should decide the fate of the sub-continent.
