An equal relationship is between equal partners. India and Pakistan are not equal in morality, size, economy, military strength, global goodwill, political clout. India is not foolish to want an ‘equal’ relationship with Pakistan. That is the reality of the world. Learn to live with it. It can be a dignified relationship, but never an equal one.
Like that between India and the US. There is mutual respect and there are mutual red lines. There are common goals. But is the relationship equal? Nobody in his right mind will say so.

From what I understand, it’s something like when you are under the captivity of fundamentalists and terrorists for too long, you begin to empathize with their point of view and begin to support and vehemently defend every dastardly action of theirs. I think it neatly sums up today’s Pakistan.
