FM Khar says India ‘war-mongering’
NEW YORK: India is “war-mongering” over deadly clashes in the disputed Kashmir region, foreign minister said on Tuesday while calling for talks to end the new hostilities.
Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar spoke out after Pakistan reported another of its troops had been killed in Kashmir while India’s prime minister has warned there can be no “business as usual” between the neighbors.
“We see war-mongering,” Khar said at the Asia Society in New York where she hit out statements by Indian politicians over the new tensions.
“It is deeply disturbing to hear statements which are upping the ante, where one politician is competing with the other to give a more hostile statement,” Khar added.
India says two of its soldiers have been killed in Kashmir, one beheaded, since January 6.
Pakistan says three of its troops have been killed in that time, the latest on Tuesday.
Khar said the neighbors had to get over their “narrative of hostility” from the past six decades.
“The doors to dialogue are open,” Khar said. “We need to meet at any level, I think we need to call each other, we need to become mature countries which know how to handle their truth.”
The minister again denied Indian accusations that Pakistani forces had beheaded one of two soldiers that India says were killed in Kashmir on January 8. She said an inquiry had found “no evidence” of the deaths.
India’s Prime Minister Manmohan Singh earlier called the beheading of an Indian soldier “unacceptable” and added there could be no “business as usual” with Pakistan.
“As I read statements coming in from the highest levels of government (in India) I can just say that we are deeply disappointed and I can say on behalf of my government that we feel that the dialogue process should be uninterrupted and uninterruptible,” Khar said.
She added that there was “warmongering coming in from the other side of the border which is I thought the thing of yesteryears and thing that we had put behind us.”
The Pakistan government “has invested deeply in the last four years to building a peaceful relationship with India,” the foreign minister added.
“I represent a government which has taken political risks to reach out to the Indians and to give them a clear message when we say we mean business when we say we want a different type of relationship,” Khar said.
“What you see in India is currently not living up to that and I hope that we will both show a deep abiding commitment to a normalised peace process, to a normalisation of relations,” Khar said.

An Indian solder was beheaded by Pakistan. Is this not an act of extreme cruelty and hatred. Why does Pakistan hate India soooo much? The grieving solder family is speechless and their lives have been turned upside down. Can the both sides talk peace and settle this issue once for all.
there is no proof about this indian accusation and its india who is not interested in a investigation carried by UN
Madam Khar says one time that a response to a billion Indian citizens does not warrant a response from her. Then she says they’ve investigated on their own and welcome third party probe.
Then, the pak army drags its feet on a flag meeting, and once it is conducted violates ceasefire again.
And, after raking up the issue in international forums, Madam khar is told by one and all to resolve bilateral matters bilaterally.
So that brings us to the point where she says they are open for dialog.
Thanks, may the spirit of peace prevail.
I feel sorry for Pakistan govt and foreign minister which have no control over the real power in Pakistan, who do not want to improve relations with India
When the childern fight, parents have to behave maturely. You cannot jeoperdize the efforts of so many for misadventures of few solidiers on both sides. Now is the test of maturity of both nations, and their governments. I believe Pakistani govt. has done well so far.
Why not accept the killings, apologize and end this?
She cant accept truth
she is another big liars
indian troops have been reported to kill each other, and its your words against my words kinda situation. no one can say for sure what really happend since no one is trusting each other so stop accusing once and for all , first get the facts straight , what really happend, no one is innocent here.
You killed three Pak soldiers and you started the firing you must accept it first and appologise rather turning a blind eye to facts.
India already used this word. Try some new word’s Rabbani..plz don’t copy ..;)
Mrs Khar seems to forget that Pakistani Govt does not call the shots and in many cases, is left in the dark as to what the Army does. Directly or indirectly, Pakistani Army controls everything in Pakistan. Mrs Khar seems to have forgotten about the Kargil conflict. At that time, even the PM of Pakistan made similar statements but had to eat his words after the role of Pakistani Army was exposed. This incident is no different. Mrs Khar only knows how to use sharp words and rhetoric but has no substance underneath. In any case, I hope she gets kicked out along with the PM and President.
This lady is talking sense.
high time ms khar sheds the vogue lifestyle and talks business with india. or else resign.
india has been threateting pakistan since few days and its newsapers are full with threats by indian forces and politicians.
where is our govt?
the timing of the attack is also an eye opener . when ther is chaos in pakistan . india chose to escalate tensions at border. they dont want to be our friends they can never be.
time to hit hard and teach them a lesson
Its unfortunate but its true
Domestic consumption.
If ignorance is bliss, you must be the happiest person alive.
The Indian don’t deserve the MFN status by Pakistan.
Rightly said
surprisingly, all the echoes of the war drums are originating from what one would have believed the learned / experienced quarter of the Indian society. not the first time, they are exploiting Pakistan to gain political advantage at home.
Who cares what pakistanis say???lol..
Everyone knows what would have happened by now if we were war-monger. WE are resisting ourselves and displaying our maturity by not taking tough action even though you beheaded our soldier where you are not even condemning the actions by your army. I don’t think she understands or agrees with what she is saying. uhhh
You dont have balls to start war with Pakistan because you know that it wont be conventional war and results of your so-called emerging power will be catastrophe.
yeah everyone knows what would have happened, india would have lost its land like in 1965 war and cried out loud for his armed forces failure internationally and would have asked for it lost territory back. dont forget that ever.
we are not condemning bcoz its a made up lie you guys dont even have a proof to defend your point.
What a joke?
Madam, welcome to USA, please stay here for a decade on political asylum. When situation calm down at your country, you can choose which part of Pakistan you want to return, Republic of Balochistan or Public of Pakistan…
Where were you when Indian soldiers you ‘Beheaded’ Taab Kyun Nahi Boli Tum ?
Very balanced statement.
nah, its a blunt lie… read again
Hoping things are settled peacefully.
“Pakistan investigated and found no evidence of Indian deaths, let alone beheading.” – Kher.
“The Pakistan government “has invested deeply in the last four years to building a peaceful relationship with India,” the foreign minister added.”
But not the Pakistani military…………..
any proof?
Are you so naive that you do not know the reason ? Which world you are living ?
For once I believe the Pakistani government. It was India that attacked first when two Pakistani soldiers were killed and has been war mongering ever since. Indian diplomacy is far better than Pakistan’s and they can easily turn the news on it head making Pakistan look like the initiater.
Indian leaders must try to calm the situation down instead of pouring oil in the fire. The two sides must stay together and wrap up the entire situation for good. Else, things will go downwards for both nations.
Actually in India media is trying to make govt. act nobody wants a war but we want proper action from Pakistan. Indian leaders were trying to not provide too much attention to this but since Pak army is violating ceasefire again & again the media while reporting it also asking for strong actions although i know few people are trying to wage war from both sides but some sort of correct response & corrective measures from Pakistan can easily sort this situation. This will also help in trust building & further progress of both nations.
its the indian rmy , every day we hear a news another pakistani soldier died, and indian officials are threatening statements, if pakistan has to take any action it should be only to make indians realize, stop telling lies to the world.
Mrs Khar, once your US shopping is over, see what awaits you in Pakistan. Is there a civilian government in your country? First set your own house in order.
pls worry about your country internal problems before even thinking to tell us what to do. and if you ppl can just stop lying it will be a lot peacefull world.
