I fully agree that KSE 100 is not a stock market; it is like an in-house gambling in a rundown area {like Ghas Mandi). The academic rhetoric does not apply here. I haven't noticed the directives frequently issued by an effective regulatory body governing the stock market. How many investors we have who qualify to: interpret the financial statements; analyze the liquidity, debt, debt/equity ratio, cash flow/total debt outstanding etc. Our investors, who have tons of money, are basically punters; they just rely on stock brokers, if they win well and good and if they lose, okay next time. We do not have an industrial base, middle class and hard-earned savings to invest in the stock market, so how we can move ahead. Probably it will take ages to reach a well-balanced standard.

we have to first understand the contribution of KSE's contribution to the nations economy. If corporates do not come to tap their necessary financial requirement, also called the IPO, then with the present stocks, it does make or enhances wealth. The distribution of wealth that it generated when stocks go up comes when their are millions of investors and this wealth percolates down to the economy as well augurs well for the financial markets. Politics, terrorisits acts and attacks, Military etc are something which the rattled nation has faced and have mastered the turbulence- which is a kind of daily event. Uncertainity is the biggest fear for the stocks markets and gives a good signal as to which way the trade, industry and commerce as well as foreign exchange market thinks.
