Pensioners and biometric technology
I HAVE noticed that senior citizens have to come in person to collect their pension and have to wait for a long time in banks for their turn. Probably, their physical presence is necessary to confirm that they are still alive and any other person does not take away their pension.
In order to reduce difficulties of these old people, I have the following suggestions:
I come to know that the Bank Islami Pakistan has introduced ATM service in which the biometric verification system is adopted, that is instead of entering PIN code in the ATM, account-holder has to give finger impression which is verified by the ATM with the finger impression saved in the record.
If any other person tries to withdraw the amount, he cannot do this. I would like to suggest that banks, including the National Bank, give similar ATM cards to all senior citizens so that they can withdraw their pension from any ATM at any time by using their thumb impression.
If their thumb impressions match, then it means he/she is alive and collected the pension himself/herself. By using this technology, we can reduce problems for our senior citizens.

OMG – in which world are we still living – why do our senior citizen’s have to suffer in their old age? why can’t the govt find a better solution? in UK the pension is sent direct to the bank and each year a form is sent by HMRC for the individual to sign and return – why can’t the pakistan gov do the same by taking their thumb impression every year to rectify if they are alive.
