I WAS surprised to see the news item ‘Army not to escort ECP officials door to door’ (Jan 11).

The report said that instead verification was being carried out by education department officials who were not accompanied by army soldiers. Since we all know that the said department is highly politicised, it seems that the whole process would not achieve the desired result.

We, the citizens, who are suffering immensely due to poor law and order of Karachi, appeal to the ECP to ensure that at least two army personnel accompanied the verification team in sensitive areas to make the process fair and clean.
