Cruelty to animals
This is with reference to the letter Cruelty to animals by Bonobithi Biswas (YW, December 31, 2012 ). I agree with the writer that animals too have the right to live freely. We should not snatch from them their freedom for the sake of our fun and enjoyment.
Although animals, like human beings, can’t express their pain and sufferings they too, like us, feel miserable when someone deprives them of their freedom. We must be sensitive towards animals and be considerate of their feelings. God has made us the most superior creature so we must show our greatness by being kind to animals.
Colour the picture
I am a great fan of Young World and eagerly wait for it every Saturday. I have a suggestion for the magazine that will surely enhance readers’ interest.
I would like you to add a ‘colour the picture’ section in which a blank image is printed and children are asked to colour it. It will be of great interest, especially for children under 10 years of age. I hope you will like my idea and implement it in the coming weeks.
Beat the winter blues
This is with reference to the article Beat the winter blues by Gulrukh Tausif (YW, January 5, 2013 ). Although in Karachi winter lasts just for a few weeks, we should not take it lightly. Winter affects our health even if it stays only for a short time, therefore we should take precautionary measures to avoid the side effects of the chilly weather.
From diet to skin care and wearing proper clothes to avoid flu, etc., everything should be properly taken care of in order to enjoy the winter season fully.
This is with reference to the newly added column Cook-it-yourself. I liked it very much; it’s a wonderful addition to the magazine because it encourages children to learn to cook.
Cooking is an essential skill that all of us must learn. It helps us everywhere. These days more and more youngsters are going abroad to study, where they have to live alone away from the comforts of their homes.
In such circumstances, if they have cooking skills, they will not have to be dependent on canteen or hotel food — they can cook anything for themselves, which would be much healthier than the canteen or packaged food.
Arfa Karim, the pride of Pakistan
There are a lot of people here in Pakistan who are like shining stars, who make Pakistan proud. Pakistan is so fortunate to have such outstanding students, professionals and people. One of these outstanding and awesome people was the youngest Microsoft Certified Professional, Arfa Karim Randhawa (1995-2012), who achieved this great feat at the age of nine.
She was born on February 2, 1995. But, unfortunately, we lost her last year on January 14, because of a sudden serious illness.
She was invited by Bill Gates to visit the headquarters of Microsoft in United States of America.
She also received many worthy awards because of the talent given to her by God. She was also bestowed with the award of Pride of Pakistan. She was truly the pride of Pakistan.
Pakistan versus India
This is with reference to the article Pakistan versus India by Ahsan Chawala on January 5, 2013. The writer has written this article beautifully and I liked it very much.
I would like to add that it was a really interesting cricket series which I enjoyed a lot. This time Pakistani players played nicely and carefully, as a result we won the series. Surely it is really great to win a series in the home ground of others, especially in India. I hope that Pakistani players keep performing better in the future and make us proud.
