KARACHI, Jan 20: Sindh remained in the grip of a cold wave entering the province from the northwestern side that made Nawabshah the coldest place in the province where the mercury dropped to three degrees centigrade on Sunday, said a Meteorological official.

The Met official said that the weather was expected to remain cold and dry on Monday as the province would remain enveloped in the Siberian winds that had passed over Afghanistan and Balochistan and entered the province.

Responding to Dawn queries, the official said that Larkana and Nawabshah were expected to become the coldest places in the province on Monday as the mercury might remain between three and five degrees centigrade and three and six degrees centigrade, respectively, in these areas.

He said that the minimum temperature recorded on Sunday in Larkana was four degrees centigrade; Sukkur, five degrees centigrade; Jacobabad, six degrees centigrade; Hyderabad, seven degrees centigrade and Badin, 10 degrees centigrade.

He said the maximum temperature recorded on Sunday in Badin was 24 degrees centigrade; in Hyderabad and Nawabshah it was 23 degrees centigrade; Sukkur, 21 degrees centigrade and Larkana, 20 degrees centigrade.

He said that the weather was expected to remain cold and dry in the province and the temperature in Sukkur was expected to remain between five and nine degrees centigrade; Jacobabad, six and eight degrees centigrade and Hyderabad, between seven and nine degrees centigrade.

He said Karachi also remained in the grip of the cold wave and the minimum temperature recorded on Sunday was eight degrees centigrade and the maximum temperature recorded was 26 degrees centigrade with 17 per cent humidity.

He said that the weather on Monday was also expected to remain cold and dry and the minimum temperature was expected to remain between eight and 10 degrees centigrade.
