LAHORE, Jan 21: The Commercialisation Wing of the Lahore Development Authority sealed on Monday at least 30 car showrooms in Samanabad after their owners/occupants failed to pay the requisite commercialisation fee despite receiving repeated notices.

The LDA administration has also decided to register criminal cases against those who will reopen their sealed showrooms, says an LDA spokesman in a statement.

He said the LDA had issued prior notices to owners and occupants of these properties to deposit the fee.

“To calculate the fee to be received from property owners, the LDA teams have also measured the area being used for commercial activities by defaulters,” the spokesman said.

Meanwhile, the permission for temporary annual commercialization has been ceased on 46 declared roads as well as on roads of re-classification area of the Gulberg Scheme from Dec 31, 2012.

Owners and occupants of these properties have been served notices for getting their properties permanently commercialized without delay by paying the requisite fee.

“They have been advised to apply for the permanent commercialization of their properties within a week, failing which their properties will be sealed without further notices,” the spokesman said.

DISMISSED: The LDA administration dismissed on Monday two officials for being involved in preparation of bogus property files of Mustafa Town, forged exemption of plots (developed plots that are transferred to those whose lands are acquired by the LDA) and illegal transfer of plots in the scheme.

Those dismissed are staff officer Muhammad Anwar and senior accountant Khalid Iqbal, says a press release.

It says that guilty officials have been proceeded under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability (PEEDA) Act-2006.

SPORTS GALA: The City District Government of Lahore plans to organise a sports gala in the city from Jan 29.
