PESHAWAR, Jan 22: At least three CD and music shops were blown up in two back-to-back blasts near the traffic police lines at Bacha Khan Chowk here on Tuesday evening.

An official of Faqirabad police station said that dynamites were planted near the shops that went off one after another. However, the blast caused no casualty and people present in the area remind unhurt, he added.

The official said that the blasts also damaged the power supply system and caused panic among the people in the area.

However, SP Khalid Hamadani told mediapersons that only one blast took place that destroyed a music-cum-CD shop. He said that a power transformer also exploded with a big bang when the people were busy in removal of debris after the first blast. The transformer blast caused panic among the people and they took it for another subversive act, he added.

Quoting the officials of bomb disposal squad, the SP said that about 500 grams of explosives were used in the blast. The area was condoned off by police and security personnel and movement of vehicles and pedestrians was restricted for some time.
