Islam views very positively this game and any other game which is beneficial for mental and physical health. You must not have heared that the Respected Prophet of Islam (PBUH) used to run race with children while passing by the grounds; just to encourage them. He also used to encourge youngsters to participates in games. Particularly there is mention of swimming and wretling in such games. Also are desireable by Islam any other games which are played in open field like Cricket, Hockey, Football etc. Islam is not that which is preached by Muslim extremists and propogated by CNN, Fox News and Sky News. Believe me whatever is beneficial for society is allowed. Whatever is not beneficial is not allowed. If a Muslim is bad, it does not mean that Islam is bad. I know this is not appropriate forum to discuss all these things. I still remember visiting Lahore as a child when we would drive to this place behind Data Darbar to watch traditional wrestling. From a child’s point of view, it was surreal to see two wrestlers fighting on bear dug up ground. Their body covered in dirt… Not like the fake WWF or now WWE. Just recently, I was reading that the legendary Japanese wrestler Antonio Inoki visited Pakistan after 36 years. In 1976, he came to Pakistan first and fought an international bout with one of the famous Bholu brother Akram pehalwan at the National Stadium Karachi. No wonder Pakistani still love to watch WWE.
