Bank looted of Rs5.4m
ISLAMABAD, Jan 23: Six robbers looted a UBL branch of over Rs5 million, besides beating and injuring its security guards on Wednesday, police said.
The police said four of the robbers entered the bank, located at DHA Phase II, at closing time and held two security guards at gunpoint. The other two remained outside the bank to provide cover to their colleagues.
They snatched 12-bore guns from the guards and started beating them.
Shortly after overpowering the security guards, they held manager and cashier of the bank at gunpoint and grabbed the keys of safe from them and looted cash of Rs5.4million.
They also broke the CCTVs and its recording system. Later they locked the main door of the bank with chain and escaped in a white Toyota Corolla.
After getting the information the police reached the bank and broke the chain of the door, Sihala police SHO Inspector Haider Ali said. He said that the robbers seem to be Pashtoon as they were talking in Urdu of Pashto accent.
He said that the robbers used the car without registration number plate and escaped towards Rawat.
The police made the sketches of the robbers with the help of bank staff, the SHO said, adding that they also collected finger prints.
