Excellent article. I fully support it, and would also like to mention that wind turbines up to 2MW are now operational, and this can further reduce the area needed per MW produced. The only issue with wind turbines is that they cannot be relied upon for base load generation, because wind does not always blow with the same speed. However, even if wind farms support the base load generation, they can be utilised for shaving load from the fossil fuel burning power plants, thus saving operating costs and emissions. More wind farms are needed along the coastal belt, and in other high wind speed areas. Coastal and offshore wind farms can be used to generate power, which can power reverse osmosis desalination plants along the coast. Desalination technology can be further developed in Pakistan to reduce the cost of membranes. A lot can be done with the right leadership and intent.
