KARACHI, Jan 24: A man was killed and two others were wounded in a hand grenade attack in a Manghopir locality on Thursday.

Police said the incident took place in Mushki Para within the remit of the Manghopir police station, where assailants riding motorcycles came to the area and fired into the air, hurled a grenade at a house and fled.

“The suspects had hurled the hand grenade at a house occupied by their opponents, killing one and wounding two others,” said Manghopir police station SHO Ashfaq Baloch.

“Apparently there is a conflict between the two groups. One is dealing in narcotics and the other belongs to the Lyari gangsters,” SHO Baloch said.

Among the victims, Salahuddin Baloch died on the spot while two others belonging to the gangsters group were wounded, the SHO said.

Police shifted the dead and wounded to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities and treatment of the wounded.

Shot dead in Sohrab Goth

A young man was gunned in a Sohrab Goth locality on Thursday.

Police said Haji Muhammad Khan, 33, was gunned down in Faqeera Goth within the remit of the Sohrab Goth police station.

The body was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination.The police said the victim was sitting at his cell-phone shop, Ibrahim Communication, when gunmen arrived there and fired at him. He died before he could be taken to hospital.

The police said the victim received four bullets in his upper torso, adding that he might have been killed over personal enmity.
