GUJAR KHAN, Jan 27: Over 100 women and children blocked the motorcades of local PPP leaders in Ghungrila village on Sunday evening and demanded provision of gas to their area.

The protesters suddenly appeared on the narrow street and blocked the procession. They were chanting slogans for acceptance of their demand.

The PPP leaders, including Raja Javaid Ashraf and M. Hassan, a former MPA, while addressing the gathering said Sui gas for the Ghungrila village had already been approved and very soon the area would be provided with the facility.

After the assurance, the women and children allowed the motorcades to proceed.

Earlier, Mr Ashraf inaugurated the supply of gas to 27 villages of Sahang union council.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the prime minister was making all-out efforts to mitigate backwardness of Gujar Khan tehsil.

He said during the last 30 years no elected representative had paid any attention on addressing the public issues.

He said the PPP government was making efforts to provide basic facilities of roads, drinking water, electricity and gas at the doorsteps of the citizens.
