SWABI, Jan 27: Swabi Jamhoori Ittehad Pakistan (SJIP) chairman Shahram Khan has announced that his party would field candidates in four districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in coming general election.

After addressing a public meeting at Tandkohi here on Sunday, Mr Khan told Dawn that they had formed the party in 2008 after the general election in which their two candidates – MNA Usman Khan Tarakai and MPA Javid Khan Tarakai – had defeated Awami National Party candidates, including its president Asfandyar Wali Khan.

“We have now planned to contest elections from all National Assembly and KP assembly constituencies in Swabi. The names of candidates for Buner district constituencies will be finalised soon. The SJIP would also contest general elections from Mardan and Charsadda districts,” he said.

The SJIP chairman said that they had finalised names of their candidates for two National Assembly and six provincial assembly constituencies of Swabi. Mr Shahram has already announced that he would contest election from NA-13, Swabi-II.

He said that they had started their campaign in Swabi and Buner to muster support of maximum number of people, while in Mardan and Charsadda districts a mass contact drive would be launched soon. —Correspondent
