LAHORE, Jan 29: A modern computerised surveillance system comprising closed-circuit television cameras was formally inaugurated at Gajjumata police check-post on Ferozepur Road on Tuesday.

With the latest installation, Lahore police have secured all the nine entry and exit points of the provincial capital where trained police officials have been deputed for round-the-clock monitoring, protection and maintenance of system.

Capital City Police Officer Aslam Tareen, speaking at the system inauguration, said police were utilising all their resources for foiling nefarious designs of terrorists and anti-social elements and maintaining a peaceful atmosphere in the city.

The modern surveillance system had been installed at the entry and exit points of the city in association with private sector, he said, adding that now police officers would be able to monitor every movement at these points from their offices.

The CCPO said given the critical phase the country was passing through, use of modern technology was need of the hour for the protection of citizens and police’s proper training.

He said the system installation project began three years ago, adding the cameras would remain operational round-the-clock and special lights had been arranged for checking vehicles at night time.

DIG (Operations) Muhammad Tahir Rai and Model Town SP (Operations) Awais Malik were also present on the occasion.
