Steven Spielberg is set to receive the Filmmaker of the Year award at the 2013 American Cinema Editors' (ACE) Eddie Awards.

According to a report published in TOI: The legendary director will be presented with the Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year trophy at the 63rd annual ACE Eddie Awards in Los Angeles on February 16, the Daily Express reported.

A statement from the ACE Board of Directors reads that Spielberg is a cinematic treasure and for over four decades he has been moving audiences around the world with his unique, powerful brand of storytelling.

"As one of the most successful directors in history, he has brought us beloved films, which have not only delighted us but have been indelibly woven into our cultural fabric," a statement from the ACE Board of Directors read.

Spielberg's latest release 'Lincoln' has been tipped for Oscars glory - the historical drama has been nominated for 12 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor for Daniel Day-Lewis, who plays former US President Abraham Lincoln.
