LAHORE, Jan 29: US Ambassador Richard Olson called on Governor Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmood at the Governor’s House on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the governor and the US envoy exchanged views on the political situation, upcoming general election, Bahawalpur province and the law and order situation in Punjab.

The governor said: “Our government’s first priority is to hold free and fair elections within the stipulated time.”

Ambassador Olson stated the US supported democracy and looked forward to timely and transparent elections to bring forth a credible leadership.

“The United States is not the supporter of any single political party but the people of Pakistan. We want to see democracy flourish in Pakistan,” he added.
