EDO wins freedom

DERA GHAZI KHAN, Jan 31: The executive district officer (health) of Dera Ghazi Khan won freedom from his captors on Thursday night.

Dr Mushtaq Rasool was kidnapped allegedly by Gorchani tribesmen a week ago when he was returning to DG Khan from Muzaffargarh.

His kidnappers based in the tribal belt of Rajanpur had initially demanded Rs50 million ransom but reportedly settled for Rs3 million after some elders from the Gorchani tribe mediated, sources told Dawn.

It was not clear who paid the ransom — EDO’s family or the administration. —Correspondent
