LAKKI MARWAT, Jan 31: The local clerks and subject specialists threatened here on Thursday to launch a protest movement if government did not promote them to higher scales.

The local chapter of All Pakistan Clerks Association (Apca) held a meeting in Tajazai with its president Jehangir Khan in the chair. Apca general secretary Saeed Akhtar, press secretary Shaukat Ali Shah and clerks of different government departments attended the meeting.

The Apca leaders said that provincial government upgraded teachers and other employees according to the new policy but ignored the clerks. They said that government should end discrimination against clerks.

“Provision of perks and privileges to teachers and other employees is a laudable step of the government but it shouldn’t ignore clerks”, they said. They said that government should accept their longstanding demand about timescale promotion formula as it would pave the way for upgradation of clerical staff.

PTI: Salim Nawaz and Ahmad Nawaz were elected president and general secretary respectively of the district chapter of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf in the intra-party elections.

Salim Nawaz was elected district president of PTI by securing 115 votes while his rival Mohammad Asghar got 96 votes.

Ahmad Nawaz bagged 106 votes to become district general secretary of the party. He was followed by Fidaullah Khan, who got 100 votes.

Two candidates were in the run for the PTI office of president of Lakki tehsil. Farmanullah Zangikhel secured 85 votes and was elected tehsil Lakki president of PTI. His rival Salman Saleem got 54 votes. —Correspondent
