KARACHI, Feb 2: Almost 53 per cent of children in Sindh did not receive the measles vaccine despite its availability, which resulted in over 300 deaths in the province, said an NGO working on children issues on Saturday.

In a statement issued here, the Child Rights Movement said the recent measles deaths exposed the weak routine immunisation system in Pakistan, especially in Sindh.

It urged donors to come forward and assist the country in immunisation of children. It demanded that the Sindh health department launch a high-quality vaccination drive against measles and ensure vaccines availability at all vaccination centres.—Staff Reporter
