LAHORE, Feb 2: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said it is better if the general election is held “as early as possible”.

“Early elections are in the benefit of Pakistan as it cannot afford any delay in this respect,” he said here on Saturday.

According to a handout, the chief minister said getting fresh mandate from the people was the need of the hour. The national and provincial assemblies’ elections should be held on the single day.

Shahbaz said former dictator Pervez Musharraf was lying on the Kargil operation. “Musharraf is responsible for the destruction of Pakistan and history will never forgive him. Musharraf will be remembered with reference to destruction of Pakistan. He pushed Pakistan into suicide attacks and terrorism,” he said.

The chief minister said Pakistan was left alone in the world due to Kargil war but Nawaz Sharif brought the army out of it in a safe manner.

He said the investigation commission on Kargil should be established to bring facts before the nation.
