LAHORE: Hearing a case on the inclusion of Mianwali district in the proposed Bahawalpur Janoobi Punjab province, the Lahoren High Court (LHC) reprimanded the additional attorney general over the government’s failure to produce relevant documents before the bench, DawnNews reported.

The government had been directed to produce the recommendations on new provinces which had been submitted in the National Assembly last week. It was also told to produce a copy of the notification issued about the formation of the parliamentary commission formed for new provinces.

Today, however, the additional attorney general informed the court that he had been unable to get his hands on the records, and requested more time.

Responding to which, Justice Khalid Mehmood observed that the court had merely sought some documents from the government and had not asked them to solve an algebra problem.

The court subsequently adjourned the hearing to Feb 6 and sought the relevant documents by the said date.
