THIS is apropos of a news item, ‘Promotion policy change irks bureaucrats’ (Feb 5). I believe the news item has been fed by a particular section of civil service and presents a one-sided view only.

The views published are against the erstwhile DMG and that too without obtaining their point of view. In fact, the new policy will ensure equal opportunities of promotion for the officer of all groups instead of the office management or the secretariat group only who were eying at more number of protons that was their due at the cost of officers of other groups.

As an officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service (erstwhile DMG), I think all service groups should get an equal chance for trainings, postings, etc.
