Hamza reaches final

KARACHI, Feb 9: Second seed Malik Hamza faced stiff resistance from third seed Dawar Rehan before winning in three sets to reach juniors under-17 singles final of the Sindh Open ranking tennis championship at Defence Authority Creek Club on Saturday.

Hamza recovered from a set down to clinch the battle 3-6, 6-4, 10-8 and advance into the final where he meets top seed Talha Zubair Surmawala who accounted for Nazif Ahmed 6-2, 6-3 in the other encounter.

Meanwhile, Jalil Khan was through to the men’s singles final registering an emphatic 6-1, 6-1 victory over Abdul Rehman. Earlier, the latter completed the men’s singles quartet following a walkover against Aqeel Khan who skipped due to clash with his international commitments.

The event concludes on Sunday.
