Policemen hurt in Peshawar blast

PESHAWAR, Feb 10: Two policemen including an additional station house officer sustained serious injuries in a blast at Nishtarabad Chowk here on Sunday evening.

The additional SHO of Hashtnagri police station, Imranuddin, and his driver Abbas Khan were patrolling Grand Trunk Road in a police van when someone hurled a petrol bomb at their vehicle, sources said.

They said that the van caught fire and both the policemen sustained serious injuries. They were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital for treatment. No FIR was registered till filling of this report.

In another blast, occurred at the shrine of Akhund Salaq Baba in Shahabkhel village in the limits of the Badhber police station, a room was damaged.

According to the bomb disposal squad, around five kilograms of explosives were used in the blast. Police registered FIR against unidentified persons.

APP adds: Police here on Sunday night averted a bid of terrorism by defusing two powerful bombs near Pando Chowk in the limits of Chamkani police station.

According to police, the bombs were concealed in shopping bags and planted near Pando Chowk on Ring Road.

The bomb disposal squad after getting information rushed to the spot and defused the bombs.
