Rs6m fine imposed on ‘negligent’ doctors

MULTAN, Feb 11: The consumer court on Monday imposed a fine of Rs 6 million on three doctors of Nishtar Hospital for negligence due to which a patient went into coma.
Two years ago, Asif was allegedly given overdose of aesthesia due to which he went into coma. His heirs took him to China for treatment but his condition did not improve.
Asif’s brother Mohammad Husain filed an application with the consumer court. The court found the doctors negligent and imposed a fine of Rs6 million on Dr Farrakh Aftab, Dr Khadim Husain and Dr Jawad Ali. — APP
