LANDI KOTAL, Feb 12: Eight militants were killed and 15 others received injuries as clashes between two outlawed militant groups continued on Tuesday in Tirah valley of Khyber Agency.

The renewed clashes, which started on Monday, continued on Tuesday without any letup. Sources said that Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan on Tuesday morning launched a fresh offensive against Ansaarul Islam in Bhuttan area and inflicted losses on it.

Ansaarul Islam claimed that it had strengthened its hold over two important bunkers in Dwa Stanai area and recaptured Rocket Sangar. Both sides used heavy weapons against each other. Eight persons were killed from both sides in the clashes, sources said, adding 15 others were injured.

Meanwhile, a woman was killed when security forces opened firing on her in Bara on Tuesday, sources said.

They said that wife of Chinar Khan went out of her home during curfew time. She was asked by the forces to stop but she did not respond to the forces call, they said, adding forces opened fire on her and killed her on the spot. —Correspondent
