‘India and Pakistan relations’
THIS is with reference to the letter ‘India-Pakistan relations’ (Feb 7). First, we should understand that international relations are measured in terms of national interests of a certain state.
As regards the water issue between Pakistan and India, we should expect from each state that it would adopt a policy converging at its national interests and nothing more important.
There are scientific reasons why states behave that way and national interest is exactly the way flowing water finds its course according to the ground level.
Moreover, if a state violates even moral reasons or international laws, it can do so usually as determined by its affordability.
Instead of criticising India or the behaviour of any other state, we should first assess our own national attitude in the various spheres of national life.
The question that arises in the present context is whether we have behaved responsibly and with sincerity towards our own home. There are many more questions, the answers of which reflect our attitude. The data variables and scientific analysis of our own performance in the national arena would simply answer such questions.

I am 27 year old and a patriotic Indian. I had a kind of ‘hatred’ against ‘Pakistan’ in my mind since my childhood probably because i had never ever interacted with a pakistani national. Incidently i came across this newspaper ‘Dawn’. I thought this newspaper would be not different from ‘Indian’ newspapers where ‘hatred’ is portayed and news are published in a very biased manner. But, my perception changed and i found myself a changed man who started ‘loving’ his ‘younger brother’ Pakistan. It might be my emotional outburst, but one thing I am sure that pakistani peoples also do have a heart which feels love. And, some tears rolled down from eyes when I imagined myself in that part of time when that unfortunate division of India and pakistan had not occured. Anyway, I welcome all my pakistani brothers and sisters with open arms and would like to say ‘I love you too much’.
i understand he writer to mean that we must first address judiciously the water rights within Pakistan before we take this matter up with sovereign states
it is all about politics. neither India nor Pakistan is willing to solve the problem……Politics is war without bloodshed, while war is politics with bloodshed.
you make a lot of sense. In essence a country has no friends or enemies, only national interests.
The writer must be some sort of a data analyst……But hasn’t written anything about his analysis and conclusions
The only policy we can expect from India is a continue occupation of Kashmir, a continue involvement in the internal affairs of Pakistan by supporting terrorist groups in Karachi and from the Afgan soil and more dams on our rivers.
yup
Mr Shah u forgot to mention Siachin, kargil etc.
Facts need to be verified from non-Indian, non-Paki sources. But then random conspiracy-believers thrive in the purest of the pure nations!
Dear Sir – Your perspective is real. However, please do understand that our perspective is that the Kashmir problem will be resolved when you return ‘Azad Kashmir’ (as you call it), and the Northern Areas back to us. That is a ‘real’, as well.
