SAHIWAL, Feb 13: Eight passengers were killed and 15 critically injured on Wednesday early morning in a bus-truck collision at Sahiwal-Lahore bypass near Al-Noor CNG station.

Reports said a speeding Raiwind-bound bus (LXC-1282) collided with a truck (PT-3430) on Sahiwal-Lahore bypass at 2:30am.

Muhammad Amin of Rescue 1122 told this correspondent that they took 3-4 hours to recover bodies and the injured from wreckage of the bus. Six people died on the spot while two succumbed to their injuries on way to Lahore.

The deceased have been identified as Shafqat Ali, Gulam Bao, Muhammad Ashfaq, Muhammad Mushtaq and Qari Gulam Abbas. Around 15 critically injured people were shifted to DHQ Hospital.

The injured are Muhammad Shahbaz, Muhammd Tariq, Muhammad Bilal, Malik, Muhammad Bilal, Nisar Zulfiqar, Dost Muhammad, Muhammad Tanvir, Taj, Mujeebullah, Botee Khan, Amirur Rehman, Zaheer Ahmed, Attaullah, Haji Muhammad Salah, Sanahullah, Haji Abdul Munir, Zaheer Ahmed, Talib and Muhammad Ashraf.

CHICHAWATNI: Three people were killed and four critically injured in a car-jeep collision on Burewala-Chichawatni Road on Wednesday.

A Toba Tek Singh-bound car had a collision with a Burewala-bound jeep near village 11/L, Chichawatni. Three people riding the car died on the spot. Four jeep riders suffered injuries.

The deceased have been identified as Muhammad Sajid, car driver, Shahzad alias Mutho and Muhammad Sardar. The injured were shifted to Sahiwal DHQ Hospital.
