JACOBABAD: US Ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson inaugurated a $10 million US Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded project in Jacobabad on Thursday.

According to a statement released by the US embassy, Olson visited Sukkur, Khairpur and Jacobabad in Sindh. There, he inaugurated the Jacobabad Institute of Medical Sciences.

The envoy also met local leaders as well as students from the Sukkur campus of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), as well as other educational institutions. He also visited the shrine of Sufi poet Sachal Sarmast in Daraza.

Olson said, “Here in Sindh, we are working with the Government of Pakistan to build the Jacobabad Institute of Medical Sciences, rebuild flood-damaged schools, train teachers, help women start livestock businesses, and assist date farmers to export their products. I am also pleased that we are supporting projects that will bring electrical power to over 500,000 families in this region.”
