Government implements Euro-II standards of petrol in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The government decided on Thursday to implement the international standards of Petrol with effect from Mar 1, DawnNews reported.
Dr Asim Hussain, adviser to Prime Minister on Petroleum and Natural Resources, said that Mar 1 onwards Euro-II standard petrol would be sold in the country.
He further said that the oil mafia bleeds petrol in Fujairah before it is sold to Pakistan adding that the Pakistan State Oil (PSO) was importing substandard petrol since the past eight years.
Dr Asim Hussain added that the ministry had ordered for an inquiry into improving the standard of petrol eight years ago and that the burden of the substandard petrol cost the consumers $ 20 million annually.
