ISLAMABAD, Feb 17: Rumours of resignation by Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Shaikh created quite a stir in the federal capital on Sunday but the Ministry of Finance came up with a categorical denial.

Mr Shaikh himself avoided to make a comment after private television channels had gone overboard with the ‘news’ and comments about his resignation and the possible role he might be given in the caretaker set-up.

His ministry’s spokesman and adviser Rana Assad Amin said: "The reports about the resignation of the minister are strongly denied."—Staff Reporter
