KARAK, Feb 17: The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl could not bring Islamic revolution in the country, said former provincial law minister Malik Zafar Azam.

Mr Azam, who served as law minister in the Mutahidda Majlis-i-Amal government, quit JUI-F some time ago and joined Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.

Addressing a public gathering at Mianki Banda here on Sunday, he said that elected representatives of district Karak provoked local people to get illegal gas connections.

On the occasion, an active worker of JUI-F Engineer Umer Khitab along with his family and friends joined PML-N.

Mr Azam said that all the three elected representatives of district Karak would face the wrath of people in the upcoming general elections. He claimed that they would face a historic defeat in the polls.

The former minister levelled charges of corruption against the elected representatives of the district and alleged that they earned millions of rupees by misusing funds of pressure pumps scheme and oil and gas royalty.

The elected representatives claimed that Rs250,000 were spent on installation of a water pump, which could be easily installed with Rs60,000, Mr Azama said. He resolved that the national wealth embezzled by them would be recovered from them.

Speaking on the occasion, PML-N provincial general secretary Rehmat Salam Khattak said that conspiracies were being hatched against the country. —Correspondent
