DAGGAR, Feb 17: The government failed to restore peace and resolve problems of Pakhtuns during the last five years, said Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao here on Sunday.

He was addressing a public gathering to mark the 38th death anniversary of former governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Hayat Mohammad Khan Sherpao.

He said that federal and provincial governments could not adopt a comprehensive strategy to address the issues confronting the Pakhtuns.

QWP provincial chief Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao, general secretary Bakht Baidar Khan, Advocate Saleem, Masood Jabbar, QWP district president Prof Hameedur Rahman, general secretary Maumbar Bacha and Bakhtiar Ali were also present on the occasion.

Mr Sherpao said that the so-called champions of Pakhtun rights abandoned them and did nothing to mitigate their sufferings. He claimed that his party raised voice for the cause of Pakhtuns at all platforms and would continue to make efforts to secure their rights.

He said that no concrete steps were taken to rebuild the damaged infrastructure in Malakand division where law and order situation was also unsatisfactory.

The QWP leader said that economy of the country was on the verge of collapse owing to flawed policies of the present rulers. He alleged that rulers were only serving their vested interests.
