LAHORE, Feb 19: With seven gold, two silver and as many bronze medals, Wapda won the 60th National Cycling Championship with 231 points on Tuesday.

While Higher Education Commission was the runner-up with 116 points, claiming three silvers, four bronze medals, Punjab seized third position, winning two gold, two silvers and three bronze medals with 113 points.

Sindh with one silver medal remained fourth with 39 points while Pakistan Railways bagged fifth spot with one medal, obtaining 28 points.

Afghanistan finished sixth with 28 points with Wapda’s Sabir being declared as the best cyclist and Punjab’s Mohammad Shakeel the fastest cyclist.

Tuesday’s finals results: 1km team sprint: 1-Wapda (one min, 11.33 seconds), 2 - HEC, 3 - Punjab, 4 - Afghanistan, 5 - Railways, 6 - Sindh

1,000m sprint: 1- Shakeel (Punjab) (12.62seconds), 2 - Zafar Hussain (Wapda), 3 - Zulfiqar Ali (Wapda), 4 - Ahsan Abbas (HEC), 5 - Hafiz Tahir (HEC), 6 - Mohammad Qasim (Punjab).

Elimination race: 1- Shakeel (Punjab), 2 - Ahsan Abbas (HEC),3 - Sabir (Wapda), 4 - Noor Mohammad (Sindh), 5 - Aimal (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), 6 - Miandad (Pakistan Railways).
