LAHORE, Feb 20: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz deputy secretary-general Ahsan Iqbal blames the federal government and intelligence failures for the bomb blasts in Quetta and elsewhere in the country.

Responding to a query about Interior Minister Rehman Malik’s disclosures that the explosive material used in Kirani Road blast in Quetta had been purchased from Lahore, he said it was the federal government that oversaw intelligence agencies.

He said if Islamabad had the information that some terrorists were purchasing any chemicals from Lahore for manufacturing bombs, it should have shared the information with the Punjab government so that the consignment could have been blocked.

Answering a question about regulating the chemicals business, he said a mixture of diesel and sugar was also being used for terror acts so how could one regulate the business of commodities like sweetener and petroleum products to check their misuse.

“It is the intelligence that pre-empts bids of terrorists to prepare and use explosives,” he said.

condemned: The Concerned Citizens of Pakistan (CCP) condemned on Wednesday the genocide of Hazaras in Quetta, and the recent target killing of Doctor Ali Haider and his son, Murtaza, in Lahore.

“The CCP is of the opinion that not only federal and provincial governments but all intelligence and law-enforcement agencies are responsible for this lawlessness which is playing havoc with the lives of citizens,” says a press release.

It says sheer negligence, poor intelligence and even state actors’ collusion with rogue elements are perceived as the causes of the law and order situation. The CCP demanded that decisive actions be taken against banned terrorist and sectarian groups.
